Abstract
The objective of this work is to demonstrate that microfinance has contributed to the reduction of monetary poverty, in its population dimension with at least one Unsatisfied Basic Need (UBN), in the Huancavelica region, in the period 2009 - 2019. data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Superintendence of Banking and Insurance of Peru (SBS) and Pension Fund Administrators (AFP), an econometric model was estimated to explain poverty based on microcredit and the number of offices of Microfinance Institutions (MFI). The results of the research show that monetary poverty expressed in its percentage dimension of the population living with at least one average NBI was reduced by 0.00059% due to the effect of direct credits from MFIs and due to the effect of the number of MFI offices. operating in the Huancavelica region at 42.97%.
