Abstract

Dengue is a metaxenic disease of great importance in public health that can even affect dental procedures such as extractions. The objective of this study was to determine the dental performance before dental extraction practices in patients recovered from dengue with bleeding disorders. The study was a quantitative-descriptive cross-sectional study (March-December, 2021), whose sample was 41 dental professionals from the Private Clinic of the City of Huancavelica, Peru. As an instrument, a questionnaire structured in three sections was applied. For data analysis, Microsoft Excel was used, descriptive statistics with measures of central tendency represented in tables and graphs. As a result, 43.90% of dental professionals routinely perform extractions in the group with a declared dengue diagnosis with a medical discharge greater than seven (7) days, while 53.66% perform it according to reassessment of bleeding disorder in the group with a declared dengue diagnosis with a medical discharge of less than seven (7) days, among the special cares, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and non-NSAID analgesic premedication (87.80%) and the use of gauze moistened with antifibrinolytic, extractions simple must be of a single piece (46.34%), for the reassessment of bleeding disorder the platelet count (70.73%) and the prothrombin time + INR (60.98%) are considered to be mainly important. It is important to continue with studies to understand the behavior of dentists in the face of DENV, especially in endemic areas of tropical and subtropical regions, where dengue cases are increasing.
