Resumen
96 creole cattle from Huancavelica region (Peru) of different ages and sexes were studied aiming to determinate phenotypic correlations between body weight (PC) and biometric measurements: Width (HW) and head length (HL); width (ChW), length (ChL), perimeter (ChP) and chest height (ChH); width (CrW), length (CrL) and croup height (CrH), back lumbar distance (BLD); length (BL) and full body length (FBW), cross height (CroH) and abdominal perimeter (AP). These traits were adjusted in a first-degree multiple linear regression to obtain a PC prediction equation. Phenotypic correlations were high and significant (p <0.001) between PC-AG (0.57), PC-PT (0.58), PC-LAC (0.60), PC-ACR (0.56) and PC-PA (0.58). The PC prediction can be done by the equation: PC =-321.043 + 1.82 AP + 0.78928 BL + 1.46924 CroH. AP, BL and CroH can be useful and serve as good indicative of PC of the creole cattle.
