Resumen
In the present research, the horizontal subsurface flow artificial wetland with watercress (Nasturtium officinale) was evaluated in the removal of organic matter on a pilot scale from the wastewater of the Yauli - Huancavelica district applied to the removal of organic matter as Chemical Demand of Oxygen. The system designed on a pilot scale was investigated for wastewater from the population of the Yauli district, the water was collected from the Yauli Treatment Plant to later be conducted to the Artificial Wetland built on a laboratory scale. The best removal efficiency of organic matter was evaluated in a for a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 5 days with a circulation flow of 12.5 ml / min, where a minimum removal efficiency of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) was obtained.) of 28.77% and a maximum efficiency of 42.20%, all in a residual water temperature range of 11 ° C and 13 ° C. Also, for a 7-day HRT with a circulation flow of 8.93 ml / min, obtaining a minimum removal efficiency of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of 32.44% and a maximum efficiency of 78.13%, all in a temperature range of residual water of 11 ° C and 15 ° C. The design was optimized for a 7-day HRT because the horizontal subsurface flow artificial wetland with watercress (Nasturtium officinale) produces better organic matter removal efficiency.
